Well this week was another fun and busy week! It sounds like all the family is doing well! I love and miss you all! Thank you for the kind emails! I am going to go into the week and then hopefully after I will answer a few questions from my fam!
Monday 3/16 – We had a lesson with one of our investigators who is progressing well! His name is yang dou hyun. He is 20 years old and is way awesome! He has been reading the Book of Mormon and we have met with him several times and taught all the restoration and all of the plan of salvation and he is progressing well! We will meet him again soon this week!
Tuesday 3/17 – Temple day. The temple was awesome, I really focused on taking a few questions with me to the temple and it made the experience that much better. I took some good questions and life questions and just was able to receive a lot of revelation. I talked to my MTC companion and Elder Ellingford my amigo! I got to talk to a lot of people who I knew that went to the temple and it was really fun! Then we went to a cool palace place and had a super good time and it was way fun!
Wednesday 3/18 – We had a great district meeting and I learned a lot as always, after we met with our other really progressing investigator who’s English name is Jerry! He is awesome as well! He is 26 and just a super nice cool guy! As you know age is a huge, huge deal in Korea! Age means a ton! So teaching older people is difficult sometimes. But the relationship between older brother and younger brother is also very important. It is called the 형 동생 relationship. The Older brother chooses his younger brother. So Jerry really likes us so he “older brothered” us. This is really hard to explain because it doesn’t really exist. But he likes to buy stuff for us and just likes us a lot. Haha and we like him and respect him but also share the gospel which he really likes! He is progressing well and we will meet him again soon as well! That night we were proselyting and I suddenly wanted to go knock on an apartment building so Elder Redd said sure hopefully it is the spirit! The first door we knocked on was a cute little family that had lived in England for a while and had a lot of English interest and even gospel interest and they almost committed themselves to church. It was a cool experience and we will meet the family again!
Thursday 3/19 – I went on split with Elder Flora to start out the day. He is younger than me so it was my first time being a senior companion. We studied and then went out and proselyted for a few hours and then we went to a university in our area and the zone leaders came and our whole district proselyted together with the Zone leaders! That night we went to a dinner appointment with the old bishop! It was a really good time! I really like him! It was fun!
Friday 3/20 – We weekly planned and then proselyted at gwang woon dae university. As we proselyted we talked to a guy and he had a lot of interest. He was super curious about the book of Mormon so grabbed his stuff and bought us some hot chocolate and we sat down and taught him for over a half hour and gave him a book of mormon! He had so many questions it was a really cool experience!
Saturday 3/21 – There was a bad haze over Seoul today. We have pollution from China that blows in but today it was really bad and so it was super hazy! Elder Redd got pretty sick that night so I had to make calls for a couple of hours while he slept!
Sunday 3/22 – We had ward conference today and it was really good! My good friend 송하늘 song hanuel gave a good talk! Then in sunday school he came and sat by me! He is 20 and just got his mission call! He is an awesome kid! He will go to Australia English speaking! He is a little nervous but I was happy to get to talk to him so much sunday! He also taught priesthood that day! We had a good time! After church we met a guy who works at a real estate place who helped us a long time ago. We met and got talking and he has been baptized! We found a missing less active member and got to know him and shared a short verse from the book of mormon and he said we can meet every sunday. So we hopefully can get him reactivated sometime soon!
Well this was a pretty awesome week as you can tell! Missionary work is hard but so fun! We are in an epic war against satan and his followers but we have angels round about us bearing us up. We have our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ leading the way and we will prevail! My family asked a couple of questions about Korea so I will answer! I don’t eat kimchi with every meal but I do eat it often! It is offered at every meal outside of the ones we make for ourselves! We often eat at home but we eat korean food most the time! Yes I crave things from home all the time! But Elder Jarrett gets these little packs of mashed potatoes and biscuits and other hick stuff that he shares with us all and it is AMAZING! Haha and something unique about korean culture…. Often times when we eat we sit on the floor! The Old people exercise like madness! Everyone smokes and drinks. About 95% of the people I talk to smoke and drink a ton! The most common response when we ask people what is most important to them is “money”. They work there bums off 7 days a week to have money and be rich! They work incredibly hard! Those are a few things about korean culture! Anyways I know this work is true and this gospel is true! Heavenly Father always listens to prayers, he knows us and will help us no matter what! He wants us to succeed and is on our side! I know this gospel is true!
